I retired from the US Naval Research Laboratory about the same time I first played with a Mac 128k,
NRL is located immediately north of Washington DC's Blue Plains sewage treatment plant. We were allowed to use expensive gold-plated coaxial connectors. The silver plated ones corroded rapidly because of sulfur in the "foo gas".
FUBAR was a well known navy acronym referring to telegraphy garbled beyond all recognition. Programming in NELIAC for NRL's NAREC computer - all vacuum tubes - was a teletypewriter-tape joy compared to deciphering AppleScript.
