Err... obviously I'm talking about doing so via applescript! I think the answer is no, at least in Panther, but wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. Anyone with Tiger? Does the Finder now have the capability to access/set the background image of an icon view window?

AFAIK, that option's in Finder Window (icon view), CMD + J->Background: select Picture, click on select button, choose the picture. Whether or not you can get at it using AS, is another question.
