Hello!

Designed to fully unveil AppleScript's power, Smile is like a high-level OS where the only language is AppleScript. You make Smile tools using Smile as your code editor, your debugger, and your interface builder. Using your own tools in addition to, and over, the rich set that Smile includes, you have a project done and automated in less time each time.

Mainly targeting the professional users, Smile provides them with selected key technologies which include: regular expressions and search-and-replace, Unicode, XML, maths, and graphics. The enhancements in Smile 3 are mostly about XML, the maths, and the scripted graphic layer. (This is for the free edition. Smile 3 paid edition brings major new features that I don't detail here.)

- Several XML commands were added: in particular you can now validate a DTD, you can make up a XPath, and namespaces are easier to cope with.
The new XMLLib is 2.7, it is for Panther or higher. Dictionary:

- The mathematical tool chest makes a leap, for instance it now includes a basic linear algebra set. We made it into a new osax, Numerics.osax 1.0.2, so you can check the new set of mathematical commands in the osax' dictionary:

- The new scriptable graphic library includes more than 20 new commands, for more sophisticated features such as drop shadows, graded colors, or turbulent patterns. There are now some cases where you might prefer scripting Smile rather than Illustrator to automate drawing, and Smile is much faster. View a few examples of drawings in the gallery:

The list of 100+ new features is at:

The download is at:

I hope you all enjoy Smile.

Best regards,
Emmanuel
