An old monster with a new face.

Try:

set x to 0.1234567890123456789

Why? It's just the same as what Matt said. Same face, too. (OS 10.4.2)

This existed before. If you try the above script in Panther, it will simply disappear. I do not remember it giving any error message ("Syntax error. some object").
I do not know if this new error is a bug or an enhancement of the previous behaviour, which would cause the text to disappear (temporarily, mind you, it is all there, click again in the window and puff ... text is back!) with no error message.
