Another iCal Question ... access via id's

I have a stored "uid" from an iCal event, but I can't seem to reference it as:
tell application "iCal" to tell calendar x to
get event id StoredID
end
I did this successfully in AddressBook. I have a feeling that using
the form "get first event whose uid = StoredID" will be less
efficient.
