You mean like the research you did on the DVD bug so you could bitch here?
Why not just file the bug report on it? Oh wait, you did file a bug on
it...and in my test, filling out the entire thing took a whole five minutes
in addition to the research time. Wow..such labor.
Did you file a bug on this, or just wait for someone to tell you to?

It doesn't matter how long bitching takes you. The relative effectiveness of
this list versus bugreporter is like comparing a skateboard to a Ferrari
Modena in a speed test. Bitching on this list MAY get you a result, if:
1) The right person sees it. Not a guarantee. If they're busy, they may not
even read the silly thing. Note that C. Nebel goes missing as an OS gets
closer to release.
2) They, along with everything else they have to do, remember to file the
bug. Contrary to what you may think, they don't sit, crouched in the blocks,
waiting for you to gripe to the list.
3) The bug they file isn't overruled by a customer - filed bug. If a
customer, or two or three or two hundred file a bug on something, it's going
to get a higher priority than a bug filed based on mailing list noise but no
real customer interest.
If it's important enough to take any time > five minutes to gripe about or
research, then why is it so absolutely wrong to take another five minutes
and dump what you found into bugreporter?
I don't get that refusal to do so, unless you don't really care if any bugs
actually get fixed and just want to carp
