Not my area of expertise, but this must be an overly-broad
statement. I certainly still see the option to enable AppleTalk in
my System Preferences > Network pane, and the last time I choose a
printer, I clicked "More Printers..." and choose one using the
AppleTalk browser. That sheet has a pop-up menu with "Local
AppleTalk Zone" selected, and showing sections labeled "Default Zone"
and "Recent Zones." I'm on a network without any zones, but it looks
like the system is still prepared to let me use them if they exist.
