Just to add to the mix of possibilities is the shell command
"/System/Library/Printers/Libraries/./convert " about which I posted a
question the other day. This is used in the script menus "convert to
pdf" command but has many other possibilities including changing
resolution I believe.
Sorry I don't have an example with the options you will need.
