Jon means that an application's developers can, and would need to, enable
such a coercion - a specific coercion for specific concatenations - for it
to happen. In fact I think that there are a few places in Finder scripting
where this is enabled, but I don't know of (m)any other apps that do it.
(E.g., if you try it in Entourage, you get the error "Cannot make [object]
into a vector", where [object] is whatever object - contact, message, etc. -
that you were attempting to concatenate to a list of similar objects.)
