Hi Jake,
I'd like to use iPhoto. The new version has compelled me to try to use it seriously instead of iView MediaPro. iView is much more powerful, but I do not care for the interface. Unfortunately, iPhoto insists on putting your photos into it's directory structure, so moving them around is not really practical, and would require re-importing, which would double the count (i think). My goal here is to get these dvd albums set up, then, as I import more photos, add them to the partial "last" dvd. When it is full, I will create another by hand and continue the process. This way, iPhoto has the data as to which files are on which DVD. I can even delete the files from the actual library, and then pop in the dvd and have iPhoto access it as part of the library. Should be pretty smooth. If this all fails, I can always use perl to put together folders of the right size to burn.

Thanks again,
   Drew

Nah, switching back and forth shouldn't take that long. You're only
retrieving data. And with your hardware... ;-)

Do you need to use iPhoto to split the files into 4GB sections? How about
the Finder? move files around into folders, then add into albums once
sorted? The finder might be easier to work with than combinations of the 2.

just some food for thought!
