I am building an application for a printing company that downloads
files which are multiple gigs in size. Without a progress bar, there
would be no way of knowing if the downloads are actually working or the
program is stalling.

After a hours of searching around for bits of answers, I was able to
build a download/upload system in applescript that has a progress

Why?
I thought the point of scripting things was to have them happen
without human intervention and monitoring.
If actually having a human being see a progress bar for downloads is
important, why not just use the download indicators in all the major
browsers? Why script it at all?
