The script formats the variables into a script that the DVD duplicator can read
The DVD duplicator read/queues the script and burns the DVD

The DVD gets created....with the below playlist
User's DVD

the dvd gets mailed back to the user in several business days...

May be overly optimistic, but it seems like you could set up a DVD duplicator to read a script and spit out a DVD of stored Mp2 and canned menus.....

Ok, so the first step is to identify possible duplicators; I assume from this description you're not looking at basic DVD-R drives. You need something with a robotic loader, and maybe an integrated DVD/CD surface printer? So first, find the hardware - then perhaps there are software solutions to tailor.

For this scenario, scripting iDVD or DVDSP is probably not what you want at all (not to say it couldn't be done).

I don't think you're overly optimistic, except in maybe how much effort you might think it'll take. It's of course all quite possible, but depends on how much you can write yourself versus trying to find existing pieces that do what you want. There isn't much of a market in Web-based dynamic DVD authoring yet - most is pre-mastered or burned on the fly from existing images (on demand). That said, you might be able to hobble together a reasonable demo of your idea with Toast. Have no idea if there are DVD loaders with Toast support though.
