I think this is a simple one. But I can't figure out how.

I have to write a diferent content to an existing text file, and right now, what happens is that when the new content is shorter than the previous content, the tail of the old text remains in the file.

How do I "empty" the content of a text file before writing the new content?

Thanks!

uhhhhh writing to file......

i sure wish there were some basic scripts awailable that worked for sure and then I could build on them

write to file has always been a big problem for me :-((

but I might think that the problem you have is because you dont use the 100 % correct definition of 'all text in document'

fx. in apple works its text body

--text body  text [r/o] -- the document¹s text (if text document)

--text as a range of elements

hope this helps you narrow it down
