Is there an easy way to get the HFS path from a quoted posix path?

set colonPath to POSIX file (text 2 thru -2 of posixQuotedPath) as
Unicode text

This won't work too well is the path includes a quote, I'm afraid.

We should rather advise:

POSIX file (do shell script "ls " & posixQuotedPath)

I would have suggested using "echo" instead of "ls", since that will work for any string, not simply file paths.
