Hi Jon, Gnarlie, Michelle, Emmanuel and jj.
Thanks you all for posting.
Your approaches to the problem have helped me very much in my
self-education.
Just in case you wonder:
I have this eletronic circuit that senses temperature and is returning
me a string of pulses (ones and zeros) meaning that 12 "ones" is
1023.75 ºC, and 12 "zeros" is 0ºC. The rest that lies in between that
is pure maths.
Please allow me to correct you:
It is "Sim" and "Não" in portuguese language.
(please note the cedil on top of the "a". That cedil forces you to
pronounce it "naooom")
Greetings from Brazil,
Bernardo

Hi List.
Has anyone ever written a handler to convert binary to decimal?
Is there any built function in applescript to do it?
set binString to "11111111"
do shell script "echo \"2 10 o i " & binString & " p\" | dc"
