Hey !

every way showed here works fine aslong as the pdf is a "generated" one, if i get a digital fax (saved on a server as a .pdf) and want it to be transformed into plan text the only way i found is to use Omnipage, anyone have any other experiance pr angles to attack the problem ?

For that problem there's only one angle - OCR software, of which OmniPage is one option. Many fax servers have OCR built in, many don't - but this is not something you're gonna find a free and easy unix shell tool to do, these products are expensive and imperfect (though they've improved hugely over the past decade).
