The wasted effort hypothesis is suspect for the reason stated
earlier. "In Cocoa you only need to check the box because the
AppleScript support is built into the frameworks." If it's so easy,
it should be on. But then we all know what a mess those default
Cocoa AppleScript implementations are. Maybe it's an "off is better
than junk" decision.
A parallel would be the built-in support in Cocoa text fields for,
say, right to left unicode script. So, has Apple "switched on" R2L
support for Unicode Hebrew in Pages? Can one work with documents in
Hebrew or Aramaic in Pages? I haven't seen a copy yet.
Which reminds me of yet another issue with some of these Cocoa
applications. Using UI scripting to patch holes in the things they
don't do you have interface objects that have names like "Button"
instead of the f*&%ing button's actual name. First time I saw this BS
I just couldn't believe that an intelligent being was at the console
when it was written. Does Cocoa make people stupid?
