Hi all,
Is there a way to test for the presence of an application? I need to
set up a block of conditional code that seeks an email client, then
creates a new message in that client.
I tried XMail, as suggested by others here (Thanks!) and it is very
cool, but it appears to have a bug that causes problems with long
domain names as senders or destinations. So, now I'm proceeding on the
assumption that I have to use a client instead.
I have Mail working, but this script (which is part of a Studio app)
has to work on several other machines, which use different email
clients. The code for talking to each client I have, but I do not know
how to create a conditional test that finds an application and opens
it. The other wrinkle in here is that some machines may have more than
one client, so I may have that condition to contend with as well.
Thank everyone for your help. I've built a fairly decent Studio
application, and learned more than I ever thought possible with
Applescript this week, but I'm not bumping my head against a ceiling,
and would appreciate any advice anyone cares to offer.
Thank you!
b
