Or, a better question might be. What keystroke can I ask "System
event's" to keystroke to give me an escape?
Extra Bonus question: If I script "system events" to log out. What
process is at the forefront? I tried to send a command period, but if
the dialog box is not in the forefront, it won't work.
Try this: command-shift-q
then use command-tab to cycle through all open apps
at no point will the logout confirmation dialog box ever return to the
forefront.
P.S.
If you're wondering what's behind this stupid question, it's the only
way I've discovered to wake the screensaver and stop it from
re-activating.
I have a script that runs on Tuesday morning. It runs 400% faster if
the screensaver is not running. Apart from putting a post-it on my
monitor that says "Monday- disable screensaver". Is there a way this
can be scripted?
What I've explored so far...
1. write defaults com.apple.screensaver. I set the timeout to never and
I scripted this. The downside is it requires a reboot. An unattended
scripted reboot can go awry in all sorts of ways.
2. Put the cursor in a hot corner. There's a scripting addition for
cursor placement.
3. Activate shareware "Jiggler". It's a little app that keeps the OS
busy.
4. A stay-open idle script. But what to make it do?
