I think your error message shows the failure of the reply command,
whereas my error message shows the failure of the send command. I
have an idea that the send command might have to target an outgoing
message rather than a message, but I can't see why your reply command
fails.
Unfortunately I am not very experienced with Applescript...
Scripting Mail is a challenging way to learn AppleScript! When you
have problems, you'll never know whether you're having difficulties
with the language, with the target application's dictionary (and its
bugs), or with the correct interpretation of the error messages...
