I would be interested in this topic as well, though my experience is that
there are no more available voices than english ones? (in OS X)

I've only found alternatives in Cepstral voices (shareware,
<http://cepstral.com/demos/>) and Speechissimo (also shareware,
<http://www.speechissimo.com/>, not accessible to AS except for UI
Scripting, I think).
