My bad. I have the slashed backwards. It should be "/Library/ WebServer/Documents". I'm using 10.4.2.

I want to convert this: "\Library\WebServer\Documents" to
"HD:Library:WebServer:Documents"

When I try

set a to posix file "\Library\WebServer\Documents"

I get: ":WebServer:Documents"

According to apple, it should stick the volume name to the front.

First, you must mean "/Library/WebServer/Documents".

I get the volume name in front. What version of OS and AppleScript are you
using?
