Tiger and "open for access" ... changes?

  • Subject: Tiger and "open for access" ... changes?

Hi all,

Sorry if this should be more obvious, but I don't have my hands on a copy of Tiger yet ... (wheels of bureaucracy turn slowly) ..

Summary: Existing script works under OS 10.3.x, but fails under 10.4.1.
Failure behavior (reported by client) suggests file access problems.

Script does a fair amount of "open for access" along the lines of ..

set fileRefNum to (open for access file (ref_path & ItemFile) with write permission)

where ref_path and ItemFile are text variables. This code is mostly pre-X, so doesn't use "posix" conversions or "unicode text" but has worked.

The Question: Did "open for access" get more demanding in 10.4 wrt the file path & name references?

Thanks for any insights.
