This isn't a future threat and it isn't limited to Apple. Think of the BETA/VHS. It's a general problem.


One of my torch on the hill sermons is "The Hidden Risks of Proprietary File Formats". Until we insist that documents are produced in powerful, robust open standards which are platform agnostic you'll have to keep an SE under the desk.
