do shell script error from within Filemaker

I'm trying to simulate the "enter" key within Filemaker by the "perform applescript" step. I get an error when I run it that says "the application fmtest has unexpectedy quit"

do shell script "osacompile -o /tmp/fmtest.app -e 'delay 10 tell app \"System Events\" to tell application process \"FileMaker\" to keystroke (ASCII character 3)'" do shell script "open /tmp/fmtest.app" activate

can you help me out?
