Yes, I also discovered this to be the case. But, as with the scripts, it is
inconsistent.
For example, if Terminal is not running and you double-click a .term file
from the Finder, it will open the shell with the saved settings. However,
if the Terminal application is running and has already had script commands
directed to it, double-clicking a .term file will bring the Terminal
application to the front but not launch a new shell with the settings.

That would be in line with what I've observed. My scripts having Terminal
open .term files worked up to OS 10.2.8. When I switched to Panther, it was
immediately to 10.3.9 and that was when the problem occurred.

Yes, that is why I've long used them in scripts that call up different shell
setups. I hope someone on the list can propose a solution.
