The Finder was recordable in 1994.
I guess you could sue Apple for not updating their documentation - might not
be a bad idea. ;-)
They should say "The Finder has not been recordable since the Mac OS moved
to OS X."
The Finder is something completely different in OS X than it was in OS 9.
Now it's just an application like any other. I'm sure that NONE of the code
that made it recordable will work now. Could the Finder team make the new
Finder recordable? Sure. Would it be a lot of work? Sure. Why haven't they?
Because they don't care to devote resources to doing so. Shouldn't they at
least say so in updated documentation? Yes. Why don't they? Because they're
shameless and won't even devote the rather minimal resources that might be
needed to devote resources to doing that either. Could you sue them
successfully? Probably. Will you? No - you don't have the resources either
and they know it. What does that say about them? Draw your own conclusions.
But note that none of this has anything to do with the AppleScript team.
Unfortunately, each Apple application is responsible (if that's the correct
word) for its own scriptability, or not. If they'd make the AppleScript team
(including Documentation) 10 times bigger and give them full responsibility
for making every Apple app scriptable, the world would be a far better
place.
