Forcing monitor resolution under OS 9.2?

  • Subject: Forcing monitor resolution under OS 9.2?

I drug myself into a client site today and found that they had forced a DVI monitor into an unsupported resolution on an older G4 running 9.2.x. I slapped a VGA monitor on it, set it to a supported resolution, then restarted and reconnected the DVI monitor -- no joy. OS boots (happy mac), then the video pref file loads and it goes off to la-la land. I have an AS/Terminal solution for OS X systems, but can't remember what the solution is for an OS 9 system... Anyone that can help? I'd prefer a script or scriptable AS extension that I force to load from the start items folder so it will automatically redefault to the ideal resolution at each restart (to avoid a repeat of this issue).

Any and all responses appreciated in advance.
