New Tiger dictionary format example posted

In Tiger, it is now possible for developers to specify that an application's
dictionary will be displayed using its sdef file alone, instead of the Cocoa
*.scriptSuite and *.scriptTerminology files or the traditional 'aete'
resource file that were used in Panther.

The sdef file format, enhanced for Tiger, allows developers to include HTML
documentation, including formatted instructional text of unlimited length,
example script statements, and live Web links.

This is the long-sought holy grail for dictionary writers.

For an example of what a Tiger AppleScript dictionary using these features
looks like when displayed in Script Editor under Tiger, view the PDF file of
the PreFab UI Actions Tiger dictionary at MacScripter.net:
<http://files.macscripter.net/App_Dictionaries/UIActions_1.1.pdf>

Thanks to Ben Waldie for posting this on MacScripter.net.

Actually, the Script Editor dictionary viewer adds some background styling
and navigation features that don't show up in the PDF file. To see the real
dictionary, download the free trial version of UI Actions 1.1 at
<http://www.prefab.com/uiactions/>. You'll have to run the included UI
Actions Setup application once to install the UI Actions scripting addition
in your user library Scripting Additions folder, then display the scripting
addition's dictionary by dragging it onto Script Editor.

All developers of scriptable applications should start taking advantage of
these dictionary documentation features as soon as possible. Your users and
customers will thank you!
