Trying to get the class of an object in Tiger using System Events:
What object? You don't show that below.
tell application "System Events" to set classOfToProcess to class of
toProcess
What's a toProcess? Is that your list of items "to process"? Were
you
expecting the class to a list?
display dialog classOfToProcess
And get a result of alis!?
That's an 'alias'.
Perhaps SysEvents is coercing a "single" item into a list of one.
I didn't show the object as all I did was cut out a small part of my
script simply for illustration. I assume that I should be seeing a
class of type alias - which makes sense, although I was hoping for
type "folder" or "file" - but it's returning "alis" due to a typo
deep in the bowels of (System Events) AppleScripting. I just thought
it was kind of amusing - but it could prove to be irritating to
someone if this unexpected result was being tested for in anger. So,
I raised the point.
I'll just go back to my corner and pound the keys some more.
