Filemaker Pro chokes on Find command

This script works fine in Script Editor, but in Filemaker 6 (as a perform applescript command) it gets to
the end, then re-enters "Find" mode and gets stuck there.
A fellow smarter than I, suggested that for him, inserting dialogs in between the lines made it work. I was not able to repeat this success.
I've tried this on three different databases. I've placed the find and other lines inside tell database and tell app blocks. Now I'm stuck.
delete every request
display dialog “delete every request”
make new request at end
display dialog “new request”
set cell “date” of request -1 to “5/1/2005...5/30/2005”
display dialog “I am a dirty monkey.”
find
display dialog “Done” _______________________________________________
