Probably buggy terminology; it's not as tolerant of bad dictionaries as SE's dictionary browser. Have you tried using the latest version? (It adds some extra error handling to deal with new bugs I found in Tiger's Mail and iCal dictionaries.) If you still have problems, use it to dump the application's terminology in raw aete form and send it over so I can take a look at it, thanks.
