FileMaker/Address Book Synchronization...

Jobst;

I'd love to see what you have so far. I may get some ideas.

I can't see how to do this generically as there are many structural differences. For example, I have a single record in FileMaker for each contact but, to fully emulate AddressBook, I'd have to have a separate file with addresses and phone numbers.

Another thing that bothers me is that I've concluded, to do this right, every time I do a scan, I have to scan all records in both places, this is in order to pick up deletions in one database corresponding to a record in the other that hasn't been modified. I think this is going to make it reasonably slow even though for most records all you have to do is verify that the corresponding record is still there and hasn't been modified.

Regards,
    David

P.S. And whatever I eventually come up with I will definitely share with the group. I don't think the script will be usable without some customization as I can't think of a way to access fields in the Address Book without using the class names. And even relatively simple operations, such as setting the group for a record, are a bit tricky when you consider the possible need to create the group or to delete it.
