I believe there are two issues at play here.
1. Clicking buttons and checkboxes via GUI Scripting is flaky in practically
all applications. I believe it may be an issue with the implementation of
GUI Scripting, but the responsible Apple engineer once told me that it is an
issue with the way many applications implement the accessibility API
relating to this action. The "Perform" button in PreFab UI Browser's Actions
drawer generally works with the 'click' action in most target applications,
so I think it's an Apple issue.
2. Applications that have been on the market for a long time tend to have a
lot of legacy UI code that does not have accessibility built in, and the
developers haven't gotten around to bringing them up to date in that regard.
Adobe, Macromedia and FileMaker products are in this category, among others.
