bounce application icon in the Dock command

Is there an applescript command to bounce an applescript application icon in the Dock? (OS X 10.39 appearance whatever it is called is turned on). I now create a dialog when the application is in the background to cause a bounce, a clumsy way. I would like to be able to bounce the icon, even when the application is the front application.
