That's not how I understand the purpose of this list at all. This list was started exactly because new scripters with few resources for learning AppleScript were overwhelmed or flamed when they sought help on the MacScripting list.
Then, as today, most appleScripters are dilettantes, who are not terribly interested in learning all the in and outs of scripting or the language or the object model, but simply have a single or a small number of tasks they'd like to quickly and effectively automate. Many AppleScripters start there and then go on to learn scripting and become more proficient, but many do not.
This list should be here to answer all appleScript questions, no matter how simple or how basic and without any "harshness".
If you see a question on this list that you feel is too simple or too basic, just ignore it. No need for any sanctimonious tone or harsh scolding. Save that for the MacScripting list.

Once a scripter has reached a certain level of understanding and is ready to go on, then certainly. But you can't expect everyone who's going to dabble in AppleScript to buy the books etc. before they even know if it's going to be worthwhile.
