You can make an backup scritp in 7 steps

1- Download carbon copy cloner.
2- Then make an schedule of all the things you need to backup
3- Than get more info about the schedule
4- Then you see a list of all the UNIX commands that's needed for an good backup
5- Then you can do all this commands with an do shell script
6- save your script as an program bundle
7- then put the application /backupscript.app/Contents/MacOS/applet in your crontab and the backup will execute every time you want. (cronnix is an handy tool for tis step, also freeware)

The backup script I have at this moment is a little bit different but this is how I started.

Does anyone have a simple (or not so simple) backup script they'd be willing to share (off list or on list)?

While Emanuel is having a tea break (or probably coffee break), I'll help him by mentioning the Satimage OSAX 'backup' command.

Personally I use Carbon Copy Cloner to do the whole disk and make it bootable, and ChronoSync to synchronize folders between Macs, disks, and so on, keeping careful backup copies of overwritten files as it goes.

Hi Pete...ahh yes. I've heard of the Satimage OSAX 'backup' command. this sounds like a good option. I'll have to give it a closer look. Thank you.
