Well, you don't need to use the -panther version in Tiger, just use
systemsetup -setremoteappleevents on
That works for me in Mac OS X 10.4 and Mac OS X 10.4 server.
You could also probably use launchctl on tiger, since that works with
LaunchDaemons, which is what controls eppc now.

Here¹s a helpful tip for job interviews: try not to stab your future boss in
