Why is it that Finder doesn't understand "~/Desktop"? Finder should 'get with the program', the forward slash has been with us for more than 4 years now. If anything, the use of ':' should be deprecated, that should have been in the coffin with OS 9 :-)



I don't have the book smarts enough to comment on why it doesn't understand ~/Desktop ..I know I have tried, there are plenty of ways around this though, and I'm pretty sure people have already replied with enough to get you away from those walls...

I think you mentioned being new to applescript, and i guess new to this list? this comes up often and if someone doesn't give you a straight answer, i think you will find info on the archives or elsewhere on the web about this..
