It's a minor inconvenience - you just have to provide your own find-and-replace routine - no different to all the other minor/major inconveniences, flaws, bugs, etc. that AS users have to cope with on a daily basis. (Whereas a genuine "problem" would be a script bombing because you've two drives with the same name and the script does HFS path munging.) Non-issue really.

BTW, you'd have to deal with this issue in any other language as well (though they minimize the hassle better); it's just one of those things you need to do when working between mismatched or legacy technologies.

Not really. Most likely it's not been done because the cost/benefit ratio isn't sufficient to justify it.
