You can browse over AppleTalk in OS X, but all AFP connections are over
TCP/IP.
This is why people trying to use Services For Macintosh on Windows NT with
OS X discovered a whole new world of pain. It wasn't until Windows 2000 that
SFM was upgraded to use AFP/IP.
Please note that in all cases, SFM is unstable, buggy crap, and is worse
than any other method you can think of.
