Patrick, from reading your posts, it really looks like you are confusing
yourself more than needed.
You should go and buy 'AppleScript: The Definitive Guide'.
It's not definitive, of course, but it's damned excellent and a must-have.
Otherwise, you really are going to keep on in these strange circles of
confusion for quite some time.
