"Numeric overflow"?

  • Thread-topic: "Numeric overflow"?

Does anyone know what a numeric overflow error is, and what causes it?

Someone trying to run one of my scripts for Excel, that merges columns, got
an error message:

"Could not run the script 'Blah' because of a
numeric overflow in the script -2702"

I've asked him to send me the worksheet, and I'll try stepping through it o
see exactly where the error occurs, but it would be nice to know what kind
of error this is. I've never seen it before. The fact that it's not Excel
reporting the error (I've seen a screenshot of the error message, and it's
exactly as above, with the correct name of the script rather than 'Blah'),
and not a specific line in the script erroring but something that supposedly
prevents the script from running altogether strikes me as quite unusual.
