Hi there. I'm still pretty much a newbie, and I would very much like to
create or be directed toward a relatively easily modifiable script that
would help me do the following in Microsoft Entourage for Mac v 10.1.4:
I have some outgoing emails in a named folder (not the Outbox). There are
multiple emails per recipient. They were all created via a database at
roughly the same time (over a period of just a few seconds). I would like a
script that could "pulse" the emails such that it would send one of the
emails from the specified folder per recipient/unique email address, but NO
MORE than one. Then wait (assume just via the schedules function in
Entourage) an hour or two, then I'd like the script to send another batch,
to go through the remaining emails and continue sending, but again, only one
per recipient/unique email address. I'd like the script/schedule to keep
repeating that process at the interval I'd specify until there were no more
emails left in the specified folder.
Help, please, O' Expert AppleScripters? :)
Thanks! Ramona
* In case anyone was worried, I solemnly swear that I am not now nor would
ever send any spam. The email I'd like to send in the above fashion is
absolutely opt-in via an extensive form one must fill out on a website.
Everyone can also unsubscribe at any time. I divide my extensive "sign up"
email info into multiple parts so the size of each email won't be too large,
because some subscribers use email accounts that have maximum sizes per
individual email that rejected my emails in the past when it was a larger
omnibus thing. Same reason I don't put it all into an attachment.
** Yes, I know folks SHOULD get my email to them if they "whitelist" the
appropriate email address. And actually, that simpler option seems to be
working very well for everyone I've heard from EXCEPT many folks on Hotmail,
who swear they've whitelisted the email address and are missing email
anyway. It doesn't bounce back with an undelivered error message to me, AND
they say it's not in their "bulk" folder either, it just disappears
entirely. They say they get one or two, but not all 3. I'm trying to
create the above script to send email to my subscribers on Hotmail more
slowly, to attempt to avoid whatever filter is erroneously and overzealously
identifying my email as unwanted. This has happened enough times that I
don't think it's a mistake with whitelisting on their end (I've had about
100 complaints, all from Hotmail people). The Hotmail people are actually
the only folks for which I want to use the above, I send all other email
"normally"/all at once and have had no problems reported with any other
email service. Hotmail is the bane of my existence at the moment, but only
Hotmail. Thanks.
