As the janitor over at 'appleMods.sourceforge.net', I can tell you that I
receive loads more email telling me "That's cool stuff, but I'd rather write
my own" than I do asking "Is there a library for handling uploads and
downloads?"

A point reasonably well made.

describing 'appleMods', scares folks off.

A point better made.

Look at pretty much any language and you have syntax not dissimilar to "include xxx" and suddenfly all "xxx"s sub-routines (methods, functions, handlers) are available to you. AppleScript will handle this for you seamlessly - as long as you're using an OSAXen. Otherwise you've got some convoluted, byzantine mechanism for including native libraries. Bizarre.
