Let's be fair--he didn't say AS is an utter failure per se, only that
it's a failure at seeming "approachable and unintimidating to the
common user" by virtue of being English-like. Which is still a bit
overstated IMHO, but not as much of a thrown gauntlet as people are
making it out to be.
