I recall doing this back in the OS 8 days. But I can't seem to determine where I got the information. I thought it might have been in the System Profiler, but no luck there. I then looked through the gestalt.h file to see if there was a way to get it via AppleScript, but can't see anything on a quick pass through there, and apropos doesn't give me any clues about a Terminal command that would give that information. I just can't remember how I got that information. But I'm sure someone here will know.
A couple of people wrote me off-list to say that it was an old version of Tech Tool Pro that did this. Sure enough, I fired up version 1.1.8 (in Classic) and it has the spot for the information there in the main window. Unfortunately, it was filled in N/A. The guy who wants to find out is running OS 9.2.2 on his old tower, so maybe it will work there.
