First a little background information as to my setup...
Intel iMac
Netbooted to 10.4.5
Logged in as root
I'm attempting to use the "do shell script" command to run an ASR
restore. The image I'm trying to restore is coming from a mounted AFP
volume. If I attempt the command as a file level restore without the
--erase option, there is no problem. The image happilly restores onto
the destination disk (in this case, the Macintosh HD). However, if I add
the --erase option, I get the following error every time.
"asr: couldn't erase target - Operation timed out." The interesting
thing is that when I get the error popup, the Macintosh HD then
immediately dismounts itself even though ASR has failed. If I remount
the Macintosh HD, drop to the terminal, and run the exact same command,
I have no problems. The Macintosh HD dismounts, and the image is block
copied to it. I've tried this in applescript with and without the "with
administrator privileges" clause, and it makes no difference. Does
anyone have any ideas?
