Thanks for the softball, John.
We don't think of ourselves as a "retailer that sells discontinued
software," and we don't think our customers do, either.
UI Browser 1.4.1 works as advertised in Mac OS X 10.4.8, based on our active
use of it every day in our own work and our ongoing communications with our
customers. If you have found some bug or incompatibility that we aren't
aware of, please let us know right away so that we can include it in our
work on the next upgrade.
We're sure you will be interested to learn that UI Browser 2.0 is finished
and ready for release. As soon as we get our Web site updated and other
administrative tasks finished, we will release it -- hopefully in the next
week or two. It includes some significant new features, including a screen
reader similar to Apple's Accessibility Inspector but with more advanced
features. We have continued our longstanding effort to search out bugs in
Apple's accessibility API and in UI Browser, and version 2.0 includes a
number of fixes that will be useful to customers who work with the more
technical aspects of GUI Scripting.
Version 2.0 will be a free upgrade to customers who purchased version 1.4.1
or earlier during 2006. There will be a $10.00 upgrade fee for customers who
purchased any version of UI Browser 1.4.1 or earlier prior to January 1,
2006. This is our first upgrade fee in the more than three years that UI
Browser has been on the market. We are proud of our prompt responses to
technical inquiries throughout the years that UI Browser has been available,
and we fully intend to continue our established level of support.
If anybody knows of another UI inspector that is better than ours, we'd love
to hear about it.
