The first part of that test is obviously redundant since I initialized
the list to only document files. I was messing around trying to get
it to work for a little bit before I remembered the "as alias list",
and at one point had a list of all the files period rather than just
the documents.
Also, I trust you realize that the construct is not recursive; it will
get documents contained in the folders that are directly on the
startup disk, but not their subfolders, etc, etc.
